January 12th, 2026 – Poem #2
Indifference:
Belongs to those
With unseeing eyes
Who speak in echoes
Between rattling breaths—
Who knew corpses could breathe?
Carries those
Who carry it
Like a bindle stick
Across a barren soul—
They thirst and don’t even know.
Praises those
Of nickeled hearts
and marbled faces
Who kneel yet feel naught–
The weak will call that strong.
Frightens those
Who know it
Crueler than cruelty
A remedy for pain—
What's a human drained of human?
Is indifferent.
To humanity–a cold kiss on the cheek
As the emptiness pools and pulls us down
And we become full on nothing.
